Covid 2.0 : Second Juncture Of Corona Virus

Since the Wuhan Corona Virus outbreak in China, the first case of Corona virus in India the (second most populated country in the world)was reported in the state of Kerala. Then number of cases has been reported in multiple cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad ,Patna etc. Since the outbreak was increasing rapidly in the global erena observing this  Indian government imposed lockdown in the last week of March 2020.

Amid of lockdown in Indian society, multiple issues which can be related to social, educational, economical , political, agricultural, psychological levels and most important point is that, this lockdown has created a devastating impact on the lives of the people.Covid - 19 had shown it's huge impact over the society at large. The migrants workers who depends on daily earnings,  barely have  any savings which they could spend during any emergency. Those who didn't have any money or resources left with them started moving to their villages because of the unavailability of jobs and  in the cities due to lockdown . They were forced to  walk thousands of  miles,  barefooted with their  child  and pregnant wifes. Though government has made several arrangements for their migration , it proved not enough for everyone.Apart from the migrant workers, the workers like delivery boys of the Zomato, Swiggy ,Pizza Hut & cab drivers  etc. lost their jobs in this pandemic.

India In Unlock Phase

India after being in lockdown period for more than two months, the government decided to give some concession to the public. The unlock 1 was followed by several restrictions and government has released detailed guidelines as the precautionaries measure that should be taken to  restrict the spread of Corona virus.

As time passed the government decided to remove some restrictions under few sections of the country. Mask, sanitizer and social distancing were the top most priorities of the public even after removing the restrictions.Government has allowed public to travel by air through domestic flights. Trains, metros, malls , restaurants were being allowed to open with all the guidelines fixed by government. Offices were allowed to be open with 50% of the employees.

Current Situation Of Corona Virus

In the past few months India has made significant improvement in the restrictions of spread of Corona virus as there have been significant decline in the daily cases of  people getting infected with Corona virus.  But in past few days their have been drastic increase in the  cases in  few part of the country and it seems that  the  second wave of the Corona virus in India is still going strong , specially in states like Delhi, Kerela , Haryana , Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Whereas Delhi is now one of the only  among 8 Union Territories with the recovery rate below 90%. The significant increase in pollution levels after the post Diwali  and even rain does not proved very helpful in reducing the pollution level. A Covid 19 test in the National Capital is still around 13% likely to turn positive.  And this is among the highest positivity rate in the country.

We know that controlling the virus once is not enough, and outbreaks can return in even more severe forms. One of major reason for the trailing of the infection might be the crowding during Durga Puja and Diwali have left a trail of infection behind , celebrating Christmas at the peak of winter the next big challenge for urban people living in India . Low temperature, high pollution are said to be linked with riskier virus  spread.

Earlier under government rule only 200 people were allowed to attend the marriage in Delhi . But will the looking condition of Corona which is getting worst in coming days, now limit of the guest has been reduced from 200 to 50 . Markets were being shuttered where their were hotspots.

The positivity rate has increased in Delhi , Kerala , West Bengal, Haryana and Rajasthan according to data from covid19india.org. High testing shows Delhi and Kerela are making efforts to find those  who are infected. Whereas Rajasthan and Maharashtra gave lowest testing rates. With the outbreak intensifying in Rajasthan, the state will need more people to control the spread.

The United States reported the highest share in new Corona virus cases (27%)  over the past week , followed by India (7%) and Brazil (5%).Among the new deaths reported in past weeks the U.S and  India had 13% and 5% share respectively. The global Corona Virus case count has now Crossed 56 million, including 1.3 million deaths according to the data of John's Hopkins University.

Nearly all the Europe currently have some form of restriction in place , with few exceptions, including Sweden, Norway and some parts of Eastern Europe.Currently only France is implementing full national lockdown like lockdown seen across  Europe in the spring month.

President Emmanuel Macron confirmed his country's widely expected measures, which have started until December 1.

After Pfizer's big announcement last week, another pharma company, Moderna, has claimed a break through in the search of Covid- 19 vaccine. The firm's experimental vaccine was found to be 94.5% effective in the phase 3 trial . Though this news created hope and new happiness among the citizens but in reality the vaccine is still months away from the reach of the people.

Opinion Of Experts On Current Scenario

Although their has been considerable decline in the number of Corona virus cases in India in the past few weeks , VK Paul the head of National expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid 19, highlighted the possibilities of a second wave of infection in the winter season.

According to VK . Paul ,"India is in a somewhat better position now but the country has still long way to go because 90% of the people are still susceptible to Corona virus infection." With the coming festival season coming our way, he says" because of winter season, some increase in pollution in North India and  as well as festival season, we have to be very careful.. coming months are really challenging for us. One would be worried that whatever we have gained till now may not be loss.

Conclusion

Although government has given some concession to the local public, they (public) must also take proper safety measures like practicing social distancing, wearing mask, using sanitizers. Public shall itself be responsible that they should obey the guidelines properly unless the arrival of any vaccine, each and every individual is high risk of getting infected. Therefore everyone should understand " DO GAJ KI DOORI , MASK HAI JAROORI "
